Issue 27: May 2022
Dear colleagues
Welcome to issue number 27 of the FIDIC CEO’s Update, my regular round-up of the latest FIDIC ecosystem activities, initiatives and events.
Introduction
This edition of my update has a decidedly events-related theme to reflect the fact that it seems, at long last, that the industry – and indeed most of the world – is finally emerging from our pandemic-induced confinement and we are all starting to get used to travelling a bit more and to meeting face-to-face for the first time in a long time. As I write this, I am travelling from Africa, via Europe then over to America and then to Singapore, all for face-to-face events. I have to say, I have missed in-person interactions and notwithstanding the many benefits and flexibility that you get from meeting remotely, nothing beats being physically there with others in the room. To that end, I and everyone else at FIDIC is very excited about our forthcoming Global Infrastructure Conference which, for
the first time in two years, will take place as an in-person event in Geneva, Switzerland. I hope to welcome member associations and industry stakeholders to Switzerland in September for what should be an excellent conference and you can find out more about what we have planned below. Elsewhere, as you will see, we have a number of FIDIC initiatives and events ongoing that I hope you will take the opportunity to be part of. Our industry is at its best when we come together as one and collaborate and that’s what FIDIC is all about. In that spirit of collaboration, I hope to see you all soon at one of our many events, either virtually or better still, in person.
